KDL-40EX500 and Sony UWA-BR100 USB WLAN Adapter

I've connected the WLAN Adapter to the TV and gone through the setting up connection process.

It shows: Connection Method - Wireless

              Wireless Device      - OK

Network (SSID)       - WLAN-146743  (my WLAN Router)

              Signal strength        - 5 bars

It has an IP address and Subnet Mask

But when I click on "Check Connection" it says it can't connect.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi TIMKEE

Just wondered if anyone from Sony has bothered to help you out, as I'm struggling with the same problem

I have  new week old Sony Bravia 32" + The BR100 USB WLAN stick, the telly is about 30 feet from an Orange Livebox router.

I'm, not sure what wpa or wps is, but  I have a big 26 character code on the back of the Livebox. Is that what I should type in? but when?

Plus do I have to type in the LIVEBOX-XXX network name as well? At one point the Set detected the Router network and put up its name showing it with a padlock, so the next time I will try the 26 char code.

You would have thought that they would have a web site that took you thru t this step by step? It non intuitive, ( I'm too used to Macs which usually make life simpler and easier )

None of this will be helping you though !

Hi Bill

You've pretty much managed to do it without a step by step website already. Every ISP has its own way of securing the router out of the box and so its tricky to cover every eventuality, but indeed when the TV displays your network ID (Livebox presumably) then press enter and it will prompt you for the WPA code (basically your security code) which may well be the long line of digits on the back of the Livebox ( presumably the Orange manual wil explain this) Assuming it is correct then the device should connect to the web.

There should be a reasonable step by step gude to connecting to the web in the WLAN's manual or the BRAVIA manual - both of which are also available online if you don't have your copies.

Thanks
