Hi
I have..
HDD (RDC505)
Blu-ray (BDPS570)
connected via HDMI cable to a...
stand/surround sound (RHT-G550)
which is then connected via another HDMI cable to a...
TV (NX803)
(Also connected is Sky+ via scart lead to the HDD and via another scart lead to the TV - it's via scart as I don't have Sky+HD)
You can sync all using Bravia sync (except obviously Sky). I have enabled HDMI on all products. I can send an 'enable' signal from my TV and it shows all hardware in the list - Blu-ray appears as 'player 2' and the HDD as 'player 1' with the stand/surround sound being 'audio system'.
I can change the sound level etc on the stand/surround sound and/or start up the blu-ray or HDD using the TV's remote. Everything's perfect and the sync works fine.
Then every day the sync is lost and the stand/surround won't work (with the TV sync) along with the blu-ray and HDD not responding. I know this is related to the HDD (RDC505) as by process of elimination I've narrowed it down to this machine. It seems to get stuck / crash and the only way to get it working (and in the process getting the sync to work correctly) is to unplug it and plug it back in again. Once I've done this everything works ok. But I can guarantee a couple of hours later or the next day the same thing will happen again.
Additionally, occassionally the HDD gets stuck with 'update' on the front panel. Again the only way to use the HDD is to unplug it.
I've taken all the cables out and started again and asked in a Sony shop for advice (only to be told to defragment the hard drive, though the option in the menus he stated don't exist). Anyone any ideas how to fix this as it's driving me mad!
Thanks.
Craig
