Hi,
Does anyone have information on the Sony Vaio 'All in One' desktop PC VPCJ23M1E?
I'm attempting to access the BIOS menu so as to change the drive order but am unable to do so. Tried F2, F3, Del, and F11. It does have the assist button, but this just seems to give the option to reset to original settings.
I’d appreciate some help with this.
Thanks
Hi spear47 and welcome.
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with your exact model. Is it an early touchscreen model? Why change the boot order? Are you trying to boot from USB?
Are you still using the original Windows 7 operating system? It seems to be an in between model!
On earlier models, pressing F2 repeatedly when you see the first Vaio logo during boot up should display the BIOS screens. On later models, pressing the ASSIST key when the Vaio is completely shut down should bring up the Vaio Rescue menu which has an option to enter the BIOS or boot from USB media.
Sorry I can't be more specific, you perhaps should try both and hopefully one will work.
Hi There,
Thanks for your reply.
I have recently created a Windows 10 ‘Rescue’ USB so that in the event would be able to recover the system from USB.
The original OS was windows 7 which was upgraded when Microsoft was offering the free upgrade. It is not touch screen.
I have tried the F2 key quite a few times with no success, as well as other keys.
Regarding the ASSIST key, yes I did used that while the PC was switched off but couldn’t see any option for alternative Boot order from that menu. Perhaps I missed something.
I must admit that I was being cautious when looking at this menu as I didn’t want to start an operation that would revert the system to Windows 7. It’s not my PC, just helping a friend to establish a recovery system and proper backups.
Hi spear47,
Welcome to our community!
Here's a couple of ways you can access the BIOS menu on your VAIO:
1- Presson Assist then select "launch bios setup". The option should be highlighted with F2 next to it.
2- Turn off your VAIO then press the power button once to power it on then F2 repeatedly when it's coming up.
Let us know if any of those worked for you.
Cheers,
