TV Tuner/Capture

I have a new VGC LA3 (Vista) fitted with an Avermedia TV Tuner/Capture Card. I have been trying for a month now to get this card to work with a video editting program. I have tried Pinnacle Studio 11.1, Nero 8, Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 and all display the same symptom - on starting the program I get a snatch of sound and video for about a second then nothing.

It does work with Windows Media. After protracted e-mail correspondence with Sony where they were anything but helpful the final straw came when they informed me that their software was designed to work with Windows Media and tough if it would not work with anything else, they could not be expected to sort out the conflicts peculiar to my computer set up.

To prove that it was nothing to do with any of the software I had loaded, I did a complete C Drive reformat/recovery. I loaded and tried to use the pinnacle program with only the operating system loaded, again I got the identical behaviour.

To me, the fact that three different manufacturer's programs will not work points strongly to a failing in the Sony/Avermedia set up.

Has anyone any similar experience ?

I have the same pc as you but unfortunately dont have the same software, the only way I can currently edit anything recorded is through Movie Maker which is very basic.

Yup - same problems! Click to DVD (and other software) fails to recognise the Avermedia tuner on my XL-301.
V annoying as I wanted to archive a good few hours of analog video.
No one seems to have got a satisfactory answer from Sony.
I'm waiting for a reply after saying I wasnt happy that they said Click to DVD will not work as I require it.

my click to DVd did not work properly either. I have since moved on from that prob and just use my windows media centre to transfer recorded stuff to DVD. I notice that you have used the pinnacle software and you have had probs. I need to get another TV tuner on my VGC VA1 as I can only watch and record at the same time. purchased pinnacle thing and after a month cannot use it. my prob is linked to the Realtek player. Not sure if any of this is relevant to you, but thought i would write as I have had probs with the pinnacle system and MCE
