I have seen a few issues reported with this model not properly shutting down under with Win 10 but no suggestions helped me. The laptop shut down and restarted in Safe Mode but not in any other mode-whilst appearing to be shut down, pressing any key would illuminate the keyboard. The only way to start up was to press the start button for the 4 seconds or so to re-initiate the start sequence. It took 2 full days to find the issue - the NFC module under Device Manager was enabled by default with Win 10 updates!! - disable it and all was fine (I owe this fix to a local repair guy who was excellent). Note that subsequent updates Win 10 will probably re-enable it!
This post really helped me today - thanks. I had carried out a clean installation of Windows 10 on a Sony Vaio Duo 13 (SVD1321M2EB) and was trying to work out why it didn't shutdown or restart properly. I came across your post, disabled the 'NXP Nearfield Proximity Provider' in Device Manager and it fixed the problem. As there will be no further feature updates for Windows 10 hopefully it will stay disabled.
Many thanks again.
Matt.
