activate Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) with Z5 compact to Audi MMI

I'm trying to get my Audi MMI (2012) to read text messages from my Z5c.  Phone and media streaming work fine, but the SMS option (which is there) doesnt activate on the MMI when my phone is connected.  On the Audi instruction video, it shows an iPhone with a check box for "Show Notifications" and an Android (Samsung) phone having a dialogue box come up on the phone about assessing messages (which you accept). That box hasn't happened on my Z5C.   The specs show the Z5C as being having MAP. Is there anything I can be doing on the phone to kick start it?

Sony is a bit different and my case scenario is also different: Chrysler/Dodge.

Sony has the wonderful and useful smart connect app that alow you to configure various events depending a specific connection. For example (helpful in your case):

Dodge Durango set as trusted device, when connected Smart Connect enable text to speech. At each notification I get the content read aloud automatically. As it's a trusted device I can also voice command it with my Moto 360 (ok Google do miracles) so I can interact further without unlocking the phone.

In your case, use the Sony Smart Connect, set it that every time you are connected to your car via Bluetooth it enables the text to speech and.. That should do it.

And.....did it work?

Have Z5C with 6.0.1 and have a problem syncing emails when connecting to new Mercedes car phone via bluetooth. syncing phonebook and SMS is working however.

I couldnt exactly see in the connect app how that was supposed to work, regardless I'm not sure thats the solution.  Its not text to speech I'm after, just getting the MMI to see the texts and display. From what I can see on Audi videos with other phones (Samsung), theres a MAP pop-up and acceptance step.   That doesn't happen when I connect the Sony.  I'm going to borrow other Android phones to test  it and if it's a Sony problem, I might get rid of it.

I understand, I have the same problem, and it seems that 6.0.1 on the Z5C is the cause, see here:
