Adding email account to X10.

I have been trying to add an email account to my phone through the email button.  I have also tried using K-9, but still no luck.

I have added my gmail account with no problem, but would also like to add my yahoo email address.  There seems to be a facility to do so.  I have put my yahoo address and password in to the appropriate section, but the next page asks for my 'Username'.  Any idea what the 'Username' means?  I have tried putting in my yahoo email address, both with and without the 'yahoo.ca' bit, but I get an error message saying 'Setup could not finish.  Username or password incorrect'.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please...?

In case it is of any interest, it asks me for my username and password in the 'incoming server settings' section.  The other bits were filled out automatically:

POP3 server: pop.mail.yahoo.ca

Port: 995

Security type: SSL (always)

Delete mail from server: Never.

Perhaps some of the above needs to be overridden...?

If it's a POP (i.e., Yahoo mail plus) account use the above link to get the email settings sent direct to your phone.However, if it's an IMAP (free)account, you need to go to Yahoo.com on your PC and click on the mobile link of your account settings; when you get to the mobile mail set-up page,they will take your phone number and account details and will also send the settings direct to your phone.The reason you are getting the message "Usename or Password incorrect", is because Yahoo will give you a new username and password which are mobile number-dependent.

Since it's a POP3 account, the link in my previous message will give you the option to choose between POP SSL and POP only.If this link doesn't work directly, you need to copy and paste it into your browser.Hope this helps. I think this one works directly:

I have gone to my Yahoo account and found 'Manage app and website connections', and that says that I have authorised Yahoo! Mobile to access my account, but I can't find a mobile set-up page anywhere to add my phone number and account details.  I am almost certainly just being a bit dim, but can you point me in the right direction, please...?

It's not an easy page to access through the Yahoo site, so follow the link above.Let me know if this works for your mobile number and email account.

No success in adding my Yahoo! email to the email app, but I'll try again tomorrow.  I have to be up for work in 5 hours, so I really ought not to spend too much more time fiddling with the phone this evening.  I'll let you know how I get on...
