Android headphone controls not working on walkman

I have my old samsung headphones and new generic android headphones and the controls on them (volume up/down, next song/stop) don't work at all. Is there a way to correct this...? Thanks.

Are your headphones compatible with these features as not all headphones are this may depend on the amount of connections on the jack plug of the headphones

Hi, is there an easy way to know that? Im not too tech savy... My phone is an xperia c3 btw
