Hello,
i got a problem with my new Xperia SP.
I had to encrypt my Phone because i use it as Business phone too and our Exchange Server has the rule that the Phone must be encrypted.
After the Update and the reboot the Phone isn't able to decrypt the System Data's and stucks in a Bootloop.
I'm able to fix it by myself?
Our have i send it back?
Please help me. :c
Best regards
Meanwhile I had a chat with SONY-SUPPORT. They told me that they don't care (!) because it's a Smartphone branded by Vodafone. They told me that Vodafone has to take care.
However, I've talked to Vodafone again: They said I should wait until I've updated it to Android 4.3. It's not yet available for Vodafone-customers, but it should be downloadable in 1-2 weeks.
If the phone is not working fine afterwards they will send me a new phone (again).
All in all it's a disappointing situation.
In the meantime I simply don't turn off the phone (as I said before: It's working fine with encryption as long as I turn it off). Stupid...
Hi johan
Since my phone is also encrypted I also faced similar issue but in my case it was when my battery got drain out, similar was the experince of one of my colleague using this hand set , my query to you now is if SONY going to fix this ? or reinstall as you said will be the solution of this ??
Hiya I have the same issue, did you end up finding a solution. thanks
Meanwhile I've updated to Android 4.3.
After the upgrade I switched the phone several times off and on again. Until now it seems to work.
However, a colleague of mine is still using Android 4.1.2 on his XperiaSP and he never encountered such a problem.
The whole issue remains strange...
However, I'm now performing phone-backups to the SD-card several times a week (just in case I have to re-image it again)...
I never had this problem on 4.1.2, after updating to 4.3, this is the first time i tried to restart phone and this happened! That is why I am on this page! Second major issue with my second Sony Xperia phone!
I have a solution.
First, you turn your device off using the button at the back, after the cover has been taken off. Push the button with a pen or something similar.Turning the device on and off (Sony)
Then, boot into recovery mode : Hardware buttons method. Just do the method until the notification LED light turns on to a colour.(Green for me)Finally, use the SUS to reset your device
Hope this helps
Those are exactly the steps I've performed several times. That's a workaround. The phone will work afterwards, but you'll loose all your settings. Furthermore it will get the same problem again after encrypting the phone. So it's not a real solution.
I have been getting the same problem on version 4.1.2 (12.0.A.2.254) today and after reading this post I was almost ready to reset the phone but fortunately I did not have too anymore as either because what I did as below or it was just the case that the restarts were meant to be repeated for a while.
I anyway entered settings from the Keyboard icon symbol on the encryption password screen and I have disabled the Sim Card Pin Lock
It did not make any difference as phone kept going in a loop and so I turned the phone off, remove Micro SD Card (Just as a precaution as this does not get encrypted anyway) and switched phone back on, Voila....problem solved, I am back in the phone.
If I have understood correctly, the encryption process is meant to do this as to reboot the phone several time. Mine did it around 20-25 times but it seem to be normal as I was warned just before clicking on the encrypt button as a message appeared saying that phone will reboot several time until encryption process complete.
A good idea is to remove sim card lock before doing this as otherwise you will have to type both the sim and the phone PIN everytime the phone restarts.
I think this is not an issue is just the way is meant to be although yes is quiet time wasting as per all those restarts require you to atleast eneter the decryption PIN. I am sure there are third party encryption Apps doing a more stratightforward Job.
Just be patient and let the phone do the job and if after an hour or so (which is what apparently it should take) is still looping try and do what I did as at least turning the phone off and back on and see what happens.
Good luck

I've just upgraded to Android 4.3 and I'm having the same problem again. After entering the password to decrypt storage, it gets stuck on green android icon. I'm sick of this, I will never go for Sony phone again!
Hi
As soon as I add my business email account on exchange my phones performance drops off and the system crashes/reboots frequently. This is the second handset I am on, the first one developed a battery life issue (probably form all the re-boots). I would think Sony must have a solution to this?
Can someone from Sony officially respond with a solution to this problem?
