DLNA and throw function problems after 4.3 update

After Android 4.3 update my Xperia Tablet Z does not recognize DLNA servers and availables Renders (like my Bravia TV).

The Z1 phone recognize them all... maybe there is a conflict problem between Z1 and Tablet Z on same network?

How to solve this big problem?

Im having xperia sp. N same problem after 4.3 update. Im unable to connect to my bravia tv via the throw function. At times the tv is detected but, just wont connect. And also, the phone needs to be restarted to use 'Walkman' app after attempts to connect via throw in the app. I have also tried with other bravia tvs that have wifi direct, but didn't work. Though 'Bubbleupnp' app is able to connect to the TV. Sony should fix this bug asap. Its irritating.

im having same problem with xperia sp after 12.1.a.1.205 update, everything else works great but the only way I can get any media from my phone to my smart tv is using bubbleupnp, the throw function of the phone just does not show my tv or xbox whereas it worked fine under jellybean 4.1.2 . also the xperia sp mediaserver does not show on the tv even after following the steps to fix it shown in a previous post. im currently reinstalling 4.3 using sony update service to see if this fixes the problem. failing that il go back to 4.1.2 using flashtool and try an ota update back to 4.3 instead of pc companion that I used previously. else I go backto 4.1.2 and stay there til the next update fix if there ever is one.

good news reinstalling 4.3 (12.1.a.1.205) using sony update service software fixed the problem of the throw function on my phone. if your going to try it dont forget to backup to your sd card or pc first because all internal flash memory will be wiped by the reinstall. good luck.

Dear Sony team,

I am sorry to say but the xperia Z is a piece of crap. Actually, not so sorry: what a pain in the bum!
Not only in less than 12 months I had to (1) replace the screen 3 times, (2) replace the complete unit (dead) and (3) replace the battery, which has a very poor life, by the way. The battery was the last repair, four months ago. The battery is almost dead again, and the unit is overheating!

With regards to Xperia connectivity, where is the connectivity???? Seriously? The throw function on my DNLA unit (a Sony bluray) works *randomly*, and when it connects! the stupid Walkman application stops playing at the end of EACH track! QUESTION: is this a feature? if so, it works well! thank you! But everybody would agree with me that having to press the PLAY button on Walkman after each track, is not user friendly, to say the least.

No more Sony for me. Even the software on the bluray player is crap, fiddly, unstable, slow and crap, crap, crap. Sony: get some proper software developer for once!

Very unhappy! Samsung? HTC? What is a better option?

I'am sorry to say but the Sony is my fourth tablet,  and all the others were even worse after an upgrade.

Android is crap nowadays,  and Google is to blame.

I have no hardware with Android in the house that works as it should,  after a fw upgrade.

All this software is probably made in a low cost Country,  by developers that really don't care.

The point is that choosing an other model doesn't change anything.

Choosing an other OS might help.

But which OS does work without problems?

Apple makes better hardware,  but  i don't want to be forced to do what the late SJ -  still -  tells me to do.

You never really own the iPad you bought!

That's why i had my hopes on the Sony Z.

How wrong can you be!

I know this is an old thread but I had this problem and it bugged the heck out of me until yesterday, so I thought I'd post a solution. Try downloading AllCast from the Play store. Worked for me! I can throw everything including streaming movies through the app.

Just tried Allcast and it doesn't work at all. It detects my Samsung tv ok. On selecting media in Allcast nothing happens, the selected content is not displayed in the right hand pane, and nothing on the tv.

However, this prompted me to re-try the throw function of the Sony movies app which never worked before, but since the latest movies app update, which installed itself recently, now works fine.
