Full camera res in third party apps?

How do I use the full camera resolution in non-sony apps?

They all list the max resolution as 8mp instead of 23

I cant remember now, but i have seen it somewhere on reddit in proshot app conversations and on reviews of that app on Play Store.

Heres a convo with Z5 mentions in a 3rd party app which is not working properly with camera2 API unlike many other devices.

And the AOSP camera has the crippled HALs, it'll take months for devs to develop something usefull...

That's a conversation is between users not camera app developers, get camera developers take on this issue.

RiseUpGames is a guy that develops this app, and the other guy is independent developer not connected to app but is interested in it.

EDIT: And since when are regular users less worthy then developers? People buy the phones as well as devs do, paying the same or even higher prices and use phones on regular base.

I don't understand why you are antagonizing me nor why you are taking me out of context. This is what you said

Wrong, several app devs have confirmed on various sites (google playstore review answers, reddit, forums, etc.) that the issue with using full resoulution in 3rd party apps is on Sony's end. They have tried to bypass it but no way to increase or add more then 8mpx choices.

Hence, I'm requesting you to post this information, since your claim its from camera app developers, it has nothing to do with who is more important at all, so do share those posts from Camera app developers, thank you.
On a side note, I've escalated this, but it'll make sense if you can provide camera developer users with their specific issues and statements.

Im sorry if you feel antagonized, it was not my intention, but you did said that on link i posted ''That's a conversation is between users not camera app developers'' and it wasn't the truth, as i wouldn't post it knowingly it has nothing to do with devs.

I cannot remember all the places, wheter on reddit or XDA or any other forum, on 3 languages i speak, i saw the devs explaining to users why their 3rd party apps cannot get more then 8mpx 16:9 resolution, as well as why some camera2 API features don't work and they should have by compatibility checks. Its all puzzeling, but hopefully it'll all be taken care of with latter updates.

Therefore it is hard to provide every single one devs answer, so i reached for the one i remember where it was and with who it was, and in this case, RiseUpGames is an honest dev of one of the best 3rd party camera app, if he said its a dead end then i do believe him.

However, recent AOSP HAL publishing will spark the development community to strive fixing the errors and upgrading the user expirience in a manner OEM cannot do.

Please update OS / firmware to allow Android third party camera apps to take 23MP photos !

It is ludricious to spend $1000+ on Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and not be able to capture 23MP photos in other camera apps !

This was not the case with Zperia Z2 where Android 3rd party camera apps can capture 21MP photos !

Please fix asap.

Thanks

I'm afraid i don't know if this is supported or not but i will forward the feedback.

I would however recommend that the developer of the camera app contacts our developer support in this case.

Android has standard APIs for obtaining the list of resolutions that a camera supports. On the Z5 this api is only returning resolutions upto 8megapixels.

If sony are suggesting that developers need to use a private API and not the standard android camera APIs then it is their responsibility to publish that information. Or they should make it clear that their camera only supports the full resolution in their app.

I don't think any of the previous xperia phones had this limitation so hopefully it isnt intentional.
