GPS stopped working

Hello,

I've been using my z3c for two months, without any glitches, with the GPS getting a fix under 20s most of the time, but some time ago, the GPS stopped working.

I am now unable to get a fix in high precision mode.

I've tried the following :

- Factory reset

- Purging assistance data from the service menu

- Removing the sim card

- Using different applications (Waze, Maps, Navigon)

- Clearing and updating A-GPS info (Through "GPS status", and "GPS test"

- Removing the case in hope of a better reception

- Standing outside for extended period of time in order to get a signal

All of the above failed sadly...

The device mode can sometimes get a location, but a very unprecise one (according to "GPS test", I can get a maximum of 3 satellites in use, with a signal to noise ratio that never exceeds 15...).

Build number : 23.0.1.A.5.77

Any input is welcome (the next step will be sending it for repair, but I would prefer to avoid that) !

Thanks in advance

Sometimes bad weather can play a part or being indoors - Here in the UK we have had some miserable weather lately and I to have noticed a drop in performance with GPS in that it will take longer to get a fix - Don't know if the same applies to you or will help explain

Thanks for the reply

Well here in France, the weather is also crappy, but the sudden drop in precision is, I think, too important.

Actually, I've checked with a Galaxy S3 right near my Z3C, the galaxy had a 3D fix in a few seconds while my Z3C got a unprecise fix 20 minutes after

I'd consider a system repair and then if that fails seek help from the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

Performing a system repair using PC Companion will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Sadly I've tried the system repair... twice.. No luck, same symptoms right after the repair.

I heard that KitKat 4.4.4 brought a few GPS problems, I was wondering if maybe waiting for Lollipop could be a solution ?

Well I guess I'll try Xperia Care 😕

You could wait - It's a case of what you think is best and are you prepared to wait for the release but in my opinion I'd have things checked over if only for peace of mind

Well... my device came back from a trip to Xperia Care, no changes, I am getting quite frustrated...

I wonder how they can tell that the phone is working, no fix in Waze during a 1/2h drive.

Actually I had thev same problem but I figured it out it was the stamina mode that kills the GPS. So if you have that battery saver or the xperia stamina mode on them u should put an exception list for the apps you want to run, or you can just disable the mode itself.

Thanks for your input, I just tried disabling the stamina mode, but sadly no changes

"GPS test" sometimes find 1 or 2 satellites, but with a crap signal to noise ratio, so I guess that the GPS is not completely off
