If you are running any software release higher than 14.1.G.2.257 (Android 4.2.2) then IT WILL NOT WORK....
AS SONY/GOOGLE HAVE COMPLETELY SCREWED UP THE BLUETOOTH STACK ON ANDROID VERSION 4.3 (.290 and .136 firmware) AND FROM WHAT I CAN ASCERTAIN, 4.4...
The only way to get your phone to work properly is to "downgrade" back to 4.2.2 - see here -
I have flashed my Z1 back to 4.2.2 and everything works fine on my Insignia with a Navi800 audio system. Make a backup first!!!!
I would.. Let me know how you get on...
Just for the record, I have had that problem with 4.2.2 as well. Whilst it may not be fixed by 4.3 that didn't create the problem I don't think.
My Xperia has had the bluetooth connectivity issue since Sept 2013 (whatever version of Android that was!).
Regards
It was shipped with 4.2.2... What car/audio system have you got?
Mercedes Benz audio - only a year old.
4.2.2 is claimed as compatible but asd I said, I have always had this problem with connectivity that other compatible phones don;t have.
Nalab, thanks for your help so far.
However, I'm pulling my heair out over this. I just don't get it.
I'm on a mac, which probably doesn't help. But It's asking me to turn it off and press the back button... There is no back button apart from the touch screen when the phone is on. I've read that the equivalent is to press the volume down button. But nothing happens when I do that.
I'm tempted to throw this useless pile of rubbish out of the window and go back to my age-old Samsung Galaxy Mini. My heart sank further when you said that even 4.4 pronbably won't fix it.
Can you help?!
