Need some advice - Strange Battery Graph

hi there,

need help here plz Slightly_smiling_Face

I'm facing issue with my Z1 battery since a couple of weeks : it drains a bit faster than it used to do, and the graph is showing a strange evolution of battery consumption ! the graph is in a shape like "stairs" : for example, it drops from 70 to 65 without using the phone intensivly ... and keeps going like this till it reaches 0 and shuts down... Battery is still good according to the Disgnostics app (*#*#4636#*#* menu from the Dialer)

I also noticed a bit less battery life : used to be about 24 hours, using the phone normally... but now i can only get about 16 or 17 hours using phone  the same way

would be grateful for any advice here, thanks Slightly_smiling_Face

PS : I apologize for any mistakes, english is not my native language, neither my second one Slightly_smiling_Face

Did you noticed any app that consumes more power than usual? Can you charge your phone at 100% and run it safemode for a day to see if the issue is still there.(the battery will last longer because the third party app's wont run but you can get an idea if something is not right ) ((Long press on the power button as if you wanted to turn off the device then tap and hold on the Power off option until the Reboot in safe mode dialog box appears, hit ok))

Did you updated to lollipop or do you have 4.4.4?

If the issue is not  present in safe mode the i suggest a factory reset wit clear data or a repair via PC companion... (Backup data first)

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your answer.

Actually, I don't think an app is draining the battery. apps consumption seems OK to me. the most energy used by screen and Sys/kernel, and I have no crappy apps like booster, taskillers, ramsaver...

I tried to run on safe mode for a couple of days. Battery lived longer, indeed... But not so much, it lived about 5/6 hours more than usual, this seems normal as no apps are trying to sync etc... and percentage drops are still here (maybe a mismatch between the read voltage and estimated percentage!)

BTW, still on 4.4.4... and wondering when will I get Lollipop ? I really hope that a software update will solve the problem, otherwise it could mean the battery is no longer efficient and I have to replace it !

will try to upload a battery graph for a typical day use, to show clearly the sudden drops of battery percentage !

ZeDrygin !

You can wait until the lollipop update arrives or you can try a factory reset clearing all data... (backup first)

If the factory reset or update to lollipop dosen't fix the battery behavior then it my be the battery itself to blame. You couldn'tknow before you try all scenarios to eliminate other factors..

The reset/update to Lolli./repair should correct any problems if the problem is software side.  After a reset the first few days you will observe that the battery drains a little faster until the system stabilizes. For me after the lollipop update the battery drained faster the first few days then it began to stabilize.

Hope the reset fixes your problem.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Indeed, I tried a repair via PCC last friday... As of yet, I'm waiting for the system to stabilize in the next fex days... But at first sight, I still have these strange battery drops. I also noticed these drops will occur more frequently when connected to 3G bands. when on GSM (2G) I think they disappear or happen rarely !

But, in another hand, I also can notice a drop of about 10% over night in airplane mode !!! This just seems abnormal to me !

So, I'm waiting for 5.0 update, if it does not solve the problem, I will try to get my battery exchanged, but this is really disappointing as my phone is 1 year old and I really don't use it intensively

Hi,

Well, got my Z1 updated to Lollipop. It runs really smooth, I'm pretty happy with the update.

Now I wait and hope that the battery issue will disappear. Otherwise, it will confirm the hardware issue.

will keep you updated.

Just in case, can anyone tell me what's the average price for a new OEM battery ?

thanks!

If the issue dose not disappears and is a hardware issue you should also test the device in a service to exclude the possibility that the  device  my have something to do with the issue and confirm that the battery is the problem, only then change the battery with a new one.

Keep us posted if the issue is repeating..

OK

I still have the same very very annoying issue after Lollipop update. How can this happen with a flagship that is barely 1 yo and used very lightly ???

Here's a screenshot showing the battery graph :

Any advice please ?

EDIT : When I acces to the hidden menu *#*#4636#*#*, the battery section says "Battery Health : good". Is it a reliable info ?
