Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Did the proximity sensor register the change when you covered it? In other words, did the display turn white and the device started to vibrate when you covered the top of the phone?
I have the same issue ! During the call, when the phone is on my ear, the screen turn white. In this moment I touch accidentaly the display with part of my face, and the conversation turn down.
Hi,
If the phone started to vibrate when you where covering the top of the phone in Xperia diagnostics, the proximity sensor seems to be fine.
Do you still expereince problems with the proximity sensor during calls? Does the phone not turn off the display when you putting your phone to the ear when in a call?
Hi Alexander,
Same issue for me, while the sensor works fine in diagnostics, it does not work during calls. I have, using my year, managed to attempt to connect to a wireless network once (altough my ear did not manage to key in the Wifi password), opened settings dialogue several times and parked a dozen or so phone calls.
I.e. something is broken. Please adress it, it started with the 4.3 update and never occured before.
I also have sme problem, proximity sensor is not working always and with the bad design of placing the hold option, call goes to hold many times,
what i do is, i have a flip cover and made a hole in front of mic portion at bottom right corner.
other than that you can install caller id apps from playstore which changes the layout and avoids the problem.
Strange.
Have anybody of you tried to reinstall/repair the phone software using PC Companion or Update Service?
If not I would suggest that you start with that:
http://www.sonymobile.com/update
In PC Companion, press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Press the blue link that says "Repair phone/tablet".
Hi Alexander, thanks for your reply.
Yes I used PC Companion to reinstall the phone on Monday and it had no effect on the proximity issue, I parked a call with my ear again just yesterday. However in Xperia Diagnostic the sensor works fine, both when I hold it up against my ear or hold my hand over it. Good for ear snib massage that test...
I'll reiterate that I never had this issue before 4.3, so I think there's a bug with the dialer.
Could you please send me your details in a PM, and I will forward this.
