proximity sensor issue

proximity sensor is not working many times. It is so disturbing and annoying me during making calls.

customer care suggested to install diagnostics, i installed.

when i click ear proximity

it is asking

Cover the proximity sensor ( ear piece )

Did the proximity sensor register the change ?

should i press Yes or No

hello, im banging my head against a brick wall with Sony at the moment for the same problem you are experiencing here, as im now on my 2nd Xperia M and itsfaulty again, proximity sensor and strange in call behaviour is the main problem, same as pervious phone which they replaced. Ive told them im really unhappy with it and what options have i got as to getting a different model or something, anything so i dont have to have this same phone replaced again with same model.. but they are saying they will only replace or repair it.........!!! Im just wondering why cant they offer me a money refund like they did with you... im hoping i can get there in the end as i really do not want this same model back... its BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@eaglegrip: I' afraid that there's no solution for this issue except software installation recommended in some of the earlier messages. Disadvantage is proximity sensor always on and faster battery drain. My mobile operator replaced Sony for Samsung G350. After this I would never buy smartphone or something else from Sony brand because of lack of customer support and absence of will to help. Their responsibility was, at least, to send update for this software issue.
