squeaky sounds produced while typing

Hi all,
As above I have been experiencing squeaky sounds every now and then when typing on my xperia z1 keypad since I updated to android 4.3. Not sure if it's cause of the update or the phone itself as I bought this phone around a week ago. Anyone able to advise me on this? Many thanks!

I tried this. Unfortunately no joy. Could it be a hardware issue?

It is odd that this didn’t resolve it as it does sound like more of a software issue than hardware. However as you have tried the software repair with no luck I can really only advise returning the handset so that it may be assessed by an authorised repair agent sorry.

Dear Sony Mobile Team,

I bought an Xperia Z1 on November 16, 2013 and recently the phone has developed a serious snag, there is a weird and pretty audible squeaking sound from the speakers while typing. I has to take the phone to the authorised service center twice within a span of 3 days – Mobile Technology, Andheri west (Mumbai). They diagnosed that the problem is a hardware issue and can’t be repaired there (Job No. W114043003201 & W114050200539). What I was offered after that was unacceptable on all levels; I was told by the service executives that you will be given a ‘REFURBISHED’ phone and not a new one as replacement. This is not expected out of Sony especially considering that I bought the flagship product. I tried to escalate this and spoke to Mr. Ashish Parekh (area service manager, Mumbai) who said that the policy doesn’t allow replacing with a new phone and totally shrug off his responsibility saying ‘jo karna hai aap kar lo’… also, I know for a fact that the exact same problem faced by a certain Mr. Subrat Sarkar (Xperia Z1 bought in Nov 2013 and replaced with a brand new phone in April 2014) was resolved efficiently by SONNET CARE – authorised Sony service center in Bangalore. Then why is this biasness and discrimination? I mean a refurbished phone?? Really? You expect customer to be given a second hand phone as replacement, is that the solution?  Knowing that we all know so many cases where a hardware issue, when acknowledged by the company, the phone is replaced - no questions asked! Pls escalate this matter at the very earliest and resolve as I am harassed by the behaviour of the Sony personnel (the service center and Mr. Ashish Parekh, Area Service Manager, Sony, Mumbai). On being asked for a higher authority in escalation matrix, Mr. Parekh refused to divulge any information and said ‘I will not give you any senior’s number for escalation’. I know for a fact that replacement has been done before in similar cases and it can be done here as well. I hope I am not pushed to go to the consumer forum over this.

Looking forward to hearing from you very promptly. Regards,

Ayaz Danish

Hi,

I was also facing the same issue and it was irritating me from a long time. Tried finding different ways to stop the sound. I was sure that the sound came because of the vibration. But, I was not sure from where it could be stopped. So, looking out for different options, I went into the "Keyboard Setting" and there the last option is "Sound and Vibrate". From there, we can turn off the vibration on keypress and/or reduce the vibration intensity. I got my solution. Try it and let me know if it works.

I'm using sony xperia Z1 from September 2014. Nowadays squeaky (funny) sounds produced while typing and notification because of vibration! Very hard to use the phone in the crowd. How can i fix that?
