Z2 screen doesn't go intro sleep mode

Dear all,

I have the phone for 2 weeks. At first i thought that my phone settings are off. But after spending some time on it and trying to apply different settings, i found that the problem still persists.

The problem is as follows: when i push the power button (or when i plug in the charger)the screen turns on. I have set the sleep time to 15 seconds, but the phone never goes into sleep mode. The screen remains on untill i press the power button to block it.

This is really troublesome because while keeping the phone in my pocket, the power button gets pushed, and when i take the phone out of the pocket, the battery is drained.

Ps. i tryed doing this with the "smart backlight control" on and off. There is no difference. The first thing i did when a received the phone was to make a software update.

Any ideeas?

If i can't solve this, then the phone goes back to the shop.

Thank's

Hi, I had a same problem. There was no other option how to solve this problem, so went to shop where I bought my phone and they flashed my Z2. They told me that this problem occurs when you start your device for the first time and battery is lower than 50%. I hope this will help someone with same issue.

If your phone is rooted, uninstall 'com.sonyericsson.startup' which resolves the problem. Worked for me.

Rooting your device will void the warranty of the phone though.

See the below link on  how to root your Z2 quickly without downgrading or unlocking the bootloader.

This app is used during production to verify that the touch input works. It's triggered when a specific TA-parameter is not set but before the phone leaves production this parameter is set so you should not see this in a unit you buy in a store.

If pressing power off doesn't work and remove this pop-up permanently you need to contact a service location to have the phone flashed with a specific update. A repair in PC Companion or Bridge for Mac can't fix this i'm afraid.

For more information about how to submit your phone for service and where, contact your local support team.

Hi,

I had the same problem and I realized that this was because of an APP. It is because I tested by rebooting my phone in safe mode and it worked fine in safe mode. I uninstalled the latest apps that I installed and I found that the issue is resolved. It was because of the banking app that I installed and it kept my screen lit forever. This is done because the banking apps are programmed in a way that it will log you out as soon as you lock the screen. So keep a track of banking apps that you have on your phone and try uninstalling them at the first place before uninstalling any other app.

Hope this will help.
