Cannot open apps stored on the SD card

While on holiday recently my Xperia XZ offered to move some apps to my SD card to free up some space on my phone so I went ahead and did that. All of the apps have been running with no problems for 2 or 3 weeks then all of a suddn today I started getting messages that certain apps had stopped working and were shutting down. These apps are now represented by the blue print icon with a red 'stop' button.

I know that it might be that my SD card is corrupted but I just wondered if anyone had any other ideas just in case there might be another reason?

Hi @pinkeric, sorry to hear this.

Can you still find the apps listed in Settings > Apps, or shown as installed if you search Google Play for them? If this is the case then I recommend that you restart your device and give a few minutes before checking if the apps are usable again.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me

I can find the apps in the settings but am unable to access/update them from there and in Google Play they aren't shown as installed. I have tried restarting and also shutting down for a while a few times plus removing and reinserting the SD card. I think it also looks like some photos are missing from my album as well

Do you have the option to move one of these apps back to the internal storage in Settings, and is it able to do so if you attempt it?

I'm afraid it is possible that this is due to an error with the SD card itself though, especially if you have noticed some missing pictures. If you have access to a PC I'd strongly recommend that you connect your phone to it and copy all important data to it just to be safe.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have that option, I think it must be a dead SD card, when I plug in the phone the SD card is not visible for me to remove any files.

I'm afraid it appears that way. You may want to try using some SD card data recovery software on your PC to see if you are able to extract any data from it that way.

Cannot open apps stored on sad card Xperia x

Hi, a few of my apps won't open, it says app stored on SD card. I've tried turning the phone off and on and I've tried taking the SD card out and reinserting it but no change. There is just a blue symbol with a little red SD card above it. I read a previous forum and they asked to check if was showing in Settings under Apps or if was showing as installed in Google Play. Mine isn't showing in Apps and isn't showing as installed on Google Play. Unfortunately the forum didn't help me further as the original request didn't have the same situation. Please can you advise how I could correct this issue?

I had this problem and had to delete and reinstall my apps
