Issue occured a few months ago too, but I could solve it with the repair function in "Xperia Companion" back then. Unfortunately, this doesn't work this time and the device is stuck.
What happened?
Device lays on the table, connected to wifi. I get the device to check my mails, but wifi is disabled by itself. I turn wifi back on: no networks found, which is impossible as my tablet still works. I turn wifi off and on to re-check, the XZ1 crashes and shuts down.
I start the device again: first warning "no sim card". Weird, nothing happened with the sim. I tested my SIM in another device and tested a second sim in the XZ1, but nothing changes.
Start the device again: again "no sim card" and "no wifi networks".
Connect the XZ1 to the computer, full repair with "Xperia companion", tried multiple times. Also tried the method with the volume down button before connecting the device.
Still nothing... When I now start the device, it stays stuck at the "Welcome" thingie. I can't unlock the device without internet access, which is impossible as the device doesn't recognize any sim (also tried another sim) and doesn't see any wifi networks.
In between all my attempts, there has been 1 attempt in which the device worked for 5 minutes, I was able to enter my PIN code and connect to wifi, get through the initial settings, but after a few minutes the device lost wifi and crashed again.
I guess the only thing left is claim warranty (11 months old) and send the device in for repair?
Last software version installed was 47.2.A.10.80_R1C.
Edit:
Weird thing is also that it doesn't matter when I turn the device on now, the clock always says 04:52.
*bump*
Nobody else with this issue? Really annoying. Finding your phone at random moments with no wifi, no sim card, just nothing. Device just laying on the table so absolutly no shocks or whatever involved triggering this issue. Restarting the device 10 times or waiting a few hours and you're good to go for a few days.
Sending in for repair would probably return the device without solution as I'm pretty sure the device will work fine when at the repair centre.
What now?
Almost same thing here.
A few days ago my phone told me I had no SIM card. I took it out and put it back in - all good. Today randomly no SIM again, and this time re-inserting the SIM does not help. No wi-fi either. Also phone tells me it has no IMEI code anymore and the radio bands are unavailable or something like that (if you go into debug modes etc).
Trying the companion app as we speak.
Good luck Ivar! Your phone keeps crashing / hanging when you try to turn on wifi? And in the setup wizard, it can be turned on but cannot find networks? 100% same if so.
After connection to Companion, it always told me I had the most recent software, but after repairing, I got a new update. Or something else very funny: your device says no sim, right? Don't turn it off but remove the sim. Mine restarted with notice it had to restart because the sim was removed... The same sim that wasn't there according the device.
Mine is in for repair, curious if it returns with something fixed or the message they cannot find anything faulty as the issue is not all the time.
Device returned after repair: main board should be replaced.
New issue now: sound noise in videos. See this video. You're looking at the speaker of my laptop, on normal volume and without any other noises in the room...
Also found an issue when calling: the other person can not hear me unless i talk directly into the microphone at the bottom. The other person can not hear me if I hold the device as you would normally do.
Really, do I really need to send in the device again?
