Perhaps you didn't noticed that it got hot, but phones do get hot while charging, also check

smartconnect , G+ and facebook settings, perhaps this apps are uploading/downloading something while your phone is charging

Turned everything off stopped all apps accept standard phone ones. still getting hot. the part which is getting hot is where the charging port and sd port is around that area it is roasting can not pick up the handset .

Repair your phone with SUS if that doesn't work then take it to a Sony repair center

sorry uliwooly i disagree with you every different problem ive seen on this forum results to repairing or restarting the phone when will sony fix these bugs its really annoying this answer is not helpful it will not work, like i said yesterday it was perfect today after the update its getting hot how will repairing it solve the problem, repair does not always work or restarting the phone i am personally getting sick and tired of this generic answer, and no disrespect uliwooly to you because you cant say much more then that as there is no answer i think sony needs to look at the software again and trace for any problems.

as highlighting.

Wifi problem.

Black screen problem.

Battery life problem.

Camera Issues.

Heat problem which sony claims there is a tempsensor is the phone (proof please).

Browser isssue  when you go on it, it roasts your phone.

If anyone else has anymore please list.

but the point is i xperia s previously and T they both ran hot on 4.2,  the xperia s got so hot it melted the interals of the phone.

the point is sony needs to address these issues and solve them i understand the new 4.3 or 4.4 will be coming out for the z1 soon but i hope they can read this and solve the issues.

lets cut the crap and tell the truth from now on and not give a generic answer.

once again no disrespect to you uliwooly.

I still haven't experienced first hand this issues with any of my Xperias (Z, T, S, Arc, X10, etc) the only few times my phones got hot is when I was backing up pictures, videos, etc on the clouds, but it doesn't hurt to repair the phone, if you still think there's something wrong, take your phone to a Sony repair center.

Hey mate.

I know you are frustrated now, I get it. But most of the time this SUS solution works you know.. calm down, please, he is just trying to help. He is not some Sony employee, can't do much like we can't if it comes to bug repair. You have to understand that when there is no other solution, we advice to do the standard repair to see if it helps. If not, then we can report it further.

Anyways, you said yesterday it was completely ok, right? So, maybe it's worth trying to do the SUS repair. Of course make your backups first if you have anything important.

In case this fails, you can always flash previous ROM that worked for you, and wait just a little more for the new, major update that is coming very soon.

Flashing the phone with stock firmware won't void your warranty, so I guess it is worth trying to do the "repair" via SUS, and if that fails, roll back to the old firmware.

I really hope you solve this, dude, I can imagine how frustrating it is (believe me, I can).

Once again,

No disrespect to anyone, all im trying to do is prove a point. sus does not always solve the issue, ok if it was a older model i understand but the z1 is barely even a month old and it has so many issues with every new phone i understand you get issues this why we highlight them so they can solve the issue send a fix for it for everyone and jobs done. but im trying say  ok for example i had  done the sus fix yeah?  then i still got software issues then whats next step turn off the phone and restart it? come there must be a explaination for this from at least a sony advisor of some sort.

Archanos and uliwooly i no your only trying to help and you guys are fantastic and everyone else who helps in this forum but somtimes sony need to stick there own neck out and solve these issues loads of people are now reporting these issues and they should be addressed to them and not be brushed away.

if the next update fixes these issues it be perfect.  they say they always put the customer first but they dont seem to listen to the customer sony need to recongoize these problems.

Well.. to be honest, you are right in some way. Z1 actually is a new phone, I own one too, bought it in pre-sell for inflated price. I know it has issues and for this price I am not very happy about them.

But try to look at it on a little different angle, just for a second. People kept complaining about the Xperia Z. It was a great smartphone, really was. But time shown that the camera is not that good, the waterproof glue on the back cover didn't make it when the handset got too much hot, the speaker placed on the corner was a mistake because ppl unintentionally covered it with hands, and the flips were not as perfect as they were suppose to be. So now we have Z1, all above heard and fixed.

But people still was complaining, when, when when the Honami will be released. So Sony rushed the phone to make this wish come true. But any rush in this matter have a cost. So this is it - we have the phone much earlier than it takes to make it perfect, and now we hate Sony for the very same thing we asked.

I remember the same thing about Xperia S, the flagship too. Once released it had many problems, some updates were delayed, other rushed and hated the very same way. But today it is one of the most stable and perfect phones, after so much time it still amaze. I am sure Sony hear us here. I am sorry about your problem, I really do, so I volunteered to help the best way I can. I love the Z1 regardless of all those issues, I really can live with them. I also updated today to the firmware that causes you problems, there is completely nothing wrong after this, just battery don't drain that fast as before, so I believe a simple SUS repair can really help you with your problem.

I really wish you solve this, because heat could damage your Z1 before it gets to the service. So this is what I would do with my own phone - backup, try the SUS, and if that fails then just roll back with Flashtool to the previous firmware. I faced similar problems myself, so I can understand you mate.

And I can assure you, Sony listens.

My z1 over heats while doing normal things like browsing. I dont even play games on mine.

I haven't updated to 534 yet. Should I ? After hearing the negative reviews I'm a little worried.
