Has anyone out there been able to make Voice Dialer work ?

I have been unable to get Voice Dialer to understand anything I say using the Z's microphone or via BT.

Voice Dialer even picks up road noise in the car and interprets it as "call fred" or "open settings" etc. This non-performing app spoils an otherwise excellent product.

Has anyone out there had success using Voice Dialer? If so, what is the secret ?

I have used all voice services on my EZ and they work very well indeed - the keyboard voice function is cool for writting sms, you need to be somewhere quiet and there is a delay before the text appears - I believe because google voice sevices are still online (over wifi)

and English only atm I believe

Thanks GeoffH. I was referring to Voice Dialer in particular. This is the app provided with the Z for use with hands free units. I am able to communicate very well with all Google voice apps and reasonably well with Dragon.

With the Z there is no option but to use Voice Dialer with any BT unit. The microphone output cannot be redirected to my app of choice (google).

So I will ask again. Is anyone out there using "Voice Dialer" successfully?

Hey hello, just wanted to confirm regarding the voice dialer feature on the SXEZ:

Does it ONLY work for Bluetooth headset?

Also it accepts input even if in Google Now, the option is not checked for accepting voice input from a bluetooth device?

I'm guessing it's a bluetooth headset make issue; any comments?

What about the standard wired headset, I can't get it to work for that?

I'm trying to use the standard wired headset that came with the phone: MH-EX300AP

Nor does the phone mic accept input, it just pops a message:

"Couldn't initialise...Connection to headset lost"

To sum it up, the bluetooth headset works fine for me, only issue is that it takes voice input in all cases, Google Now Voice option checked or not.

Also problem is I can't get it to work for the wired headset of the phone mic?

Any reply would be appreciated!!

Hi XLR8. Not sure if I understand your questions correctly, but Voice Dialer picks up audio on the internal mic, the wired headset and on bluetooth on my not so SXEZ. The downside is that Voice Dialer does not understand a single thing I say. That's not quite true as it sometimes understands the word "call" if I say "Karl".

The wired headset that came with the Z works well. It simply replaces the internal mic. I wish my BT mics would do the same.

In your summing up you say  the BT headset works fine for you. What sort of headset is it ? Can you get it to accept audio from something other than Voice Dialer?

Yes, Voice Dialer works fine when connected to my Bluetooth Headset.

Albeit the recognition is not so good.

What irritates me is that it doesn't take input at all from the internal mic or the wired headset at all.

Just the message:

"Couldn't initialise...Connection to headset lost"

For other voice dialers like Google Now, all mics (internal, wired & BT) work seamlessly.

Also fyi, the language comprehension is way better in Google Now, it gets it right almost everytime.

So i'm guessing it's a software issue; and my phone isn't even rooted.

Just wanted to confirm though that such a software issue shouldn't be there.

Hi again XLR8. I'm still not sure if I understood you correctly, but you seem to be having more success than me.

Can you talk to google voice apps through the BT mic ? If so, how did you make this work? What sort of BT unit do you have?

I'm using the Sony Ericsson MW600 BT headset.

The irony of it all, Voice Dialer does not accept voice input from the internal mic or the wired headset.

Also the headset even works if in Google Now BT connectivity is unselected; I guess this is so since my BT headset uses 2.1.

So what do you think, software issue?

I'm liking the Google Now Voice service way better, but this doesn't feel good.

So should I peg this down as a software glitch then yeah??

Not expected to happen from a stock app though.
