Z5 Camera Update - Not Working

I've just updated the camera application on my Z5, and now the rear facing camera doesn't work. It doesn't work in the camera application itself, it doesn't work with snapchat, it doesn't work with Facebook, it doesn't work with anything. Although the front facing camera does still work.

When I open the camera application, or snapchat, it's just a pitch black screen. You can see the "heads up display" in the application but it doesn't show what it should see through the lens.

I don't know why it's like this, and I expect Sony to fix it quickly with a new update.

I do have the same and I am running out of patience and it happened a while after I upgraded to Android 7 ad I tried almost everything mentioned but still

Sony months and no fix no comment, my Xperia was sent for repair they did fix it but they had to change the camera and others so they said now with the same fixed phone it

happened again after 1 month of use!

My issue seems to be software related. Photos work fine on the Sony camera app, videos don't. 3rd party camera apps work without issues and I can take photos and videos. Sony camera app suffers from extreme lag on video recording regardless of settings. Previously posted fixes don't work. I just noticed this issue yesterday. Never had the problem before.

I started experiencing the same problem immediately after I updated the software. Although the the camera apps like 'Face in picture' are working just fine. I tried safe mode, clearing data, restarting the phone, but nothing. Sony please give us a new updated software with the camera working.

I bought this phone just for the camera but what is this?are you guys going to fix this?? It has happen a few times now. And the only thing from your recommendation that i not yet done is finding my Local Service cuz my warranty is dead and im out of money. so please Sony. do something. I beg u.

I've had the same problem since I bought my Z5 Dual.

The camera does not want to start and it crashes every time you try to open it.

I have tried to restore the phone several times before without results.

My local service store says the error is in the software and that they can't solve it without rooting the phone.

Hey.

I had the same problem whit my xperia z5.

I wound suddenly solution on this camera app bug where the video recording freeze and application get closed.

First I downgrade my phone to android version to 7.0 and the camera app worked fine.

Then I upgrade it back to 7.0.1 and all the way to latest version 7.1.1 and the camera app did not work again.

Then I unlock the bootloader lock and suddenly the camera app work perfecly, even the video record mode.

If there will be a new version of android where this camera bug is repaired I only need to relock the bootloader and download the new version by ota or sony companion program.
