Hello zampee39 - Welcome to the Sony Forums

On your camcorder, if both the LCD screen and viewfinder are showing a black screen (as well as no image being recorded) it sounds like there is an internal fault within the camera. The first thing that you could try is getting a long, thin implement such as a paperclip and pushing it into the small RESET button/hole which you will be able to locate on your camera. This will return the camera to the factory settings and may fix this problem.

If this doesn't work, a repair may be necessary and to find out more about this I would suggest that you contact customer services at Sony - the contact details are on the following forum thread:

If you are going to have to pay for these repairs i.e. if the camera is out of warranty, you may wish to ask around at a few local repair businesses too just in case you can get a better quote.

Thanks,

Simon
