My PRS-600 battery lasts only around 300-350 pages, not the 7500 claimed in the generic product information.
I have had it from new since March this year (birthday present) and a friend also has one, which does last for weeks at a time.
What can I do?
Presumably my battery is deficient in some way, as I only use it to read books - I registered it as soon as I could in March, but I have no receipts from the person who bought it for me.
Thanks in advance

When the reader is in standby it will use battery power, the unit will continue to remain active for 5 days before full shut down, under normal use the battery consumption would be reduced and will effect the advised 7500 page turns, please see extract from instruction manual below;
Battery life (continuous playback)
Maximum Battery: Approx. 7,500 continuous page turns when reading only *
* Measured using a fully charged battery and counting consecutive and
ePub format page-turns at approx 1 page per sec. Actual battery life
may vary based on usage patterns and specific device.
Hi, when you say 300-350 pages, is this all in one go? or is this spread over a few days?
The advised 7500 pages is possible during one sitting, if you where to continually change the page it will complete this amount, however if the unit is left for long periods during page turns or use then the battery life will drop, this is normal for batteries to discharge over time.
I also have this problem with the PRS600, and it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm reading a lot over several days or if my ereader is left switched off for a period of time, my battery still runs down quickly.
The marketing blurb I've read for this ereader is that a charge should allow you to read for 2 weeks, but there's no way I could reach that if I'm reading most days.

No - this is in one go. I charged it up on holiday with a friend in Majorca who has an earlier version of the Sony reader (his had been charged before we arrived to stay with them about 3 days previously). We both read a book in the course of a gloomy day at his house. My battery was almost completely empty, but his was still showing full.
Over the course of 2 weeks, I charged my battery 5 or 6 times, his was still half full.
Hi, I would not expect the reader to work so badly, was your reader only used for reading? ie was there audio being played, or even a USB lamp, all these could effect battey life, if only the Ebip was being displayed i can only advise it is inspected via a service centre, please see our support pages for infomation;
