The dvd player has packed up on my sav s300 and I understand that's terminal. Is that correct?
I've been offered a dav s500 as a replacement - are the two interchangeable?
This system is about 13 years old there are cheap used ones on ebay if you want to stay with the same kit. I personally would upgrade to a newer system as the discs playable are very limited with this one,i would'nt have thought there would be any support for this anymore due to its age. This is a complete unit so probably not you would have to check the resistance of the speakers with the unit to make sure they are within range.
Hi there
I am not exactly sure on what you mean by interchangable? Are you meaning can you keep the old speakers in place from the DAV-S300 to use on the DAV-S500? If so, the answer is NO. You will most likely blow the speakers and/or the dvd unit. Ill explain:
DAV-S300 Speaker Specs:
DAV-S500
The DAV-S300 is 30W @ 3ohms, and the DAV-S500 is 40W @ 6ohms
As mentioned by gofrost above, you would probably be best updating to a new home theatre cinema and this is a good opportunity/excuse to do so
See HERE for Sony's range of Home Cinema Systems.
