Hello, I am writting this thread for my parents that are not too savy with tech. I am trying to find a solution to stream web content from some random site to the TV. the web browser on the device is horibble and they are not able to use it to go to sites specially with a lot of content causes the memory crash errors to show up.
We tested IOS youtube app which recognizes the tv and has a great send to tv button right on the top of videos. But this is only youtube.
I haven't found an alternative for any other site video to be cast to tv. Does anyone know any app that has similar share capability.
The TV is KDL-46W905A with PKG4.600EUA firmware. I am guessing the OS is something custom since its an older tv. I dont think this is webos. I could be wrong any ideas? I havent found any info on specs page for the TV.
Thank you.
Hi drewex,
I'm just going to try to find some answers for you. In the meantime, maybe someone else in the community might have some ideas.
Thanks,
Pascale
Apple products use a prioprietary protocol to cast to other devices named airplay, no other device apart Apple tv support it natively. On newer Sony Android TV you may download apps that implement it, not on your tv. So your only option could be buying an Apple tv to connect to your W905A
Hi drewex,
I've just found this article, iPhones don't support the screen mirroring function, besides not all of the apps come with the casting functionality. Based on that, I don't think you'll be able to share a web page from your iPhone.
However, I can see that this TV supports MHL connection via the HDMI 2 port, so you can connect your phone to the TV directly using MHL cable and you'll be able to view all of the contents from the phone.
Cheers,
