utube and hdr

when will sony update utube 4k cause I can only get 1080p on my x950b tv. this tv. app does not suppory vr9 from google. also why can't sony support hdr on this flagship tv. like samsung is doing with it's 2014 4k sets?

At this moment Sony has not made an official statement or released a date regarding an update for Youtube to play 4K content using the VP9 codec.  

In regards to HDR, at the time your TV was released there was no standard set for HDR.  However your television is equipped with a similar feature called "Xtended Dynamic Range"

thanks for the reply. I understand about the utube app. but as far as the extended dynamic range , I know it does a great job with the picture because it is fantastic. but if I purchase a uhd blue ray player will my 950b be able to read the hdr metadata from the uhd discs? or will it say not able to use hdr? Hi there

The player would read the hdr metadata, but the tv wont process it simply because the X-tended Dynamic Range is not compatible with HDR.  I would assume that the TV would do some processing to ustilise XDR.

No but according to Sony, there is an update for the high end “b” series tv’s coming very shortly.  Then it will be an HDR TV!  About time!
