Why can i not achieve connection to the internet ?

I realise this subject is kind of covered in different guises elsewhere BUT i am frustrated now!

I have just got a  Bravia NX703with  built in wireless.

I can follow the the instructions for secured set up -enter the WEP key- but when i try the last stage and connect it says 'cannot connect'.

I have spoken with my router support (linksys) who say that as I have 3 lap tops happily connected and working the problem is with the t.v.

When the t.v is looking to connect to the router I cannot access the internet on any laptop so i have to go in and turn the 'wireless setting' off on the tv.

Is it due to my router being 5 years old and not having the correct facility?

Have you tried turning the security off temporarily and connecting? Also worth updating the firmware as well.
