Hi voyocks and welcome to the forum.

Are you referring to the scroll function of the touch pad?

Hi voyocks,

have you turned scrolling off..

Your set-up may be slightly different but this may help you to check..

Click on Start, then click on Control Panel.

In control Panel select Mouse.

In the Mouse Properties window select the Function tab.

Is Use Scrolling Function enabled.?

Hi .thanks for the reply. vertical scrolling is enabled.it refers to a mouse though and not touchpad.
I have been using a wireless keyboard and mouse and wonder if i should uninstall them to see if it makes a difference.

Hi voyocks,

I have been using a wireless keyboard and mouse and wonder if i should uninstall them to see if it makes a difference.

This would be a good starting point.

In Device manager right click the mouse and select uninstall - then, without the wireless keyboard and mouse attached, re-boot and let Windows re-install the correct drivers for the device...

Thanks for the reply. Is it any different uninstaling from device manager than control panel add/remove.?
I`ll set a restore point just in case. Is there any risk of it upsetting the touhpad or pointer in any way other than the result i`m hoping for.(always a bit shy of this kind of operation).
Thanks again

Microsoft PS/2 Port Mouse (IntelliPoint)

Thereby hangs the problem - it should list a pointing device...

In Device manager right click the PS/2 port mouse and select uninstall - then, without the wireless keyboard and mouse attached, re-boot and let Windows re-install the correct drivers for the device...
