Can wifi only tablet z tether to iphone

My new tablet is wifi only. Can it tether to my iPhone to get online when there is no wifi available? If it tethers with cable, what kind of cable? If tethering is possible it will be a better option than lugging around the laptop. Thanks In advance for any help.

you can tether your iphone's data plan, just create a hotspot and voila, done.

Just circling back to let you know it worked like a charm today in the car. Hubby drove, I used Google maps. Much nicer than using the small iPhone screen. Thanks again for your help.
