2G / 3G switch

Having only 2G instead of 3G internet connection has a big effect on energie consumption.

Is there a *quick* way to toggle 3G?

Or is there a way to automatically enable 3G only if you need it, i.e. if certain data intensive apps are active, like the web browser or youtube?

Switching between 2G and 3G is down to your network and the type of signal being broadcast in that area however you could try Settings then More then Mobile network settings and then Network mode and changing the type of connection

Yes, but this is four steps deep in the menu, I'd like to have a simple toggle button on the desktop.

You're out of luck there unless you can find a 3rd party app from the play store
