Can some-one give a definitive answer as to whether an Xperia Z3 Compact purchased in the UK is quick charge 2.0 enabled before I buy a QC charger for it? According to the Qualcom website both the Z2, Z3 and Z3C are QC 2.0 capable, however checking through this forum it appears that only the Japanese variant of the Z2 and Z3 actually have QC 2.0, is this the same for the Z3C? Thanks
Hi,
I got my hands on the new HTC Rapid Charger and the Incipio Car Charger recently. Both are Quick Charge 2.0 Certified as stated on the Qualcomm website. But neither of them work as they should.
They both charge the phone as normal. They should as claimed, charge the Z3C from 0 to 60% in 30 mins. After 45 mins, I'm only up to 50%. I was expecting some seriously rapid charging, but was left quite dissapointed. I have been using the USB port and not the magnetic port,
I rarely ever have my phone battery so low that it needs to charge upto 60% in half an hour but with it being an advertised feature on our phones. I'd like it to work as it should, or at least get to the bottom of why it doesn't.
I have also seen complaints on other forums of the phone not charging fast using quick charge 2.0 devices. Such as XDA forums and android central.
I'd like to know if any Sony support reps have actually tested this 'feature' themselves and have evidence to show of it. And why is it not working on my device? Maybe it is a kernel issue with the latest firmware?
Useful information will be appreciated
Can you not ask a colleague in an overseas office who may have access to one?
People, such as myself have wasted money on getting chargers to be able to charge faster as it is one of the so called compatible features on our phones and it does not work! Pretty aggravating.
@Rickard wrote:We forwarded this internally for more information some time ago and the information i got is that Z3 Compact does support Quick Charge 2.0. The following Xperia devices supports Quick Charge 2.0:
- Xperia™ Z3 Compact
- Xperia™ Z3 Tablet Compact
- Xperia™ Z2 Tablet
- Xperia™ Z3 (only Japanese variants SO-01G, SOL26 and 401SO)
- Xperia™ Z2 (only Japanese variant SO-03F)
Of our docking stations, only DK48 supports it.
But i don't have any Quick Charge 2.0 charger so i haven't been able to test how much faster it will charge.
Hello Rickard,
thanks for the Info but you're really sure with the Z3 compact? Or is it like the Z3 that only a few variants support Quick Charge 2.0?
Because i have an model from swizerland and bought additional an Quick Charge 2.0 charger. But i'm dissapointed, if everthing would working fine, the phone should be loaded in 45min - but it needs nearly 3 hours.
I've tested a little bit arround (with usb an magnetic port / the results with usb):
- with an charger from samsung (shame 😉 ) with 5V 2A the device is fully load in 2,5 hours (with 5V 1,8A in use)
- with an Quick Charge 2.0 charger (there are several possibilies 5V-9V-12V with 2A or 4A) it loads with 9V but only 1A (the the picture) so it needs nearly 3 hours.
In fact of that in my opinion it supports no Quick Charge 2.0 or it's really buggy...
The information i have is that all variants of Z3 Compact supports it. The phone Iucidium has is also the same variant as the one sold in Switzerland.
But normal USB-charging uses 5V and your picture shows that it's charging at 9V so it seems your phone is actually using Quick Charge 2.0. But i'm afraid i don't know why it's only charging at 1A
I have read on many review websites that Z3 supports fast charging---
- Fast battery charging: 60% in 30 min (Quick Charge 2.0)
But this is a lie. My z3 never charges even 40% in an hour. I use the original charger and cable.
Or is there any more RULES for this fast charging thing as well!!!
What about your experience guys???
