Quick questions, quick replies; ask anything about the Xperia XZ1 Compact!

Hello everyone!

We tried out a new concept where we mainly let our community assist each other with product/feature questions in the Xperia XZ Premium board and it was a success! So, let's keep it rolling. smile happy

The purpose of this thread is to ask anything that you wish to know about the Xperia XZ1 Compact; other users owning an Xperia XZ1 Compact and forum staff will do our best to reply!

As an example, prior to purchasing an Xperia XZ1 Compact, you may be wondering if someone has tried out a specific third party app or feature on their XZ1 Compact, and could tell you a bit more about the compatibility and functionality as the app may important in your daily life. Staff and other users can come in and reply and let you know how it works!

The goal of this thread is to help each other out as a community. We will try to moderate this thread so that any new threads with a fitting question will instead be moved here, while we of course keep support threads the way they are now.

NOTE:
Support related questions, such as raising concerns and troubleshooting are best suited in a different thread/their own thread. Please try to see if there is a thread regarding your concern, and if not, feel free to create one! smile happy

Hi guys I do it my xperia xz1 compact device bootloader lock open but now I can't get it back

I want to close again

Because I have green camera photo problem please help me

You will have to try a third-party workaround such as xperifix. Sony makes it pretty clear that when you unlock your bootloader, they won't support your camera anymore.

You could also try installing the AOSP build that doesn't have Sony's proprietary camera app.

Is there a way to encrypt the SD card on the xz1c? Or it needs a third party app to do this?

Do *not* attempt to encrypt the SD card if you want it to work with any non-Sony apps. Sony's SD card encryption implementation been broken for the past year on multiple firmwares including XZ1c. In the latest firmware, it will claim to be encrypting the SD card... and then not encrypt anything! It's outrageous.

Hi, I have a little question, when I get either under de sun or a place with too many light, the color black on the screen gets washed out, even if the automatic brightness is off, someone else having this, is normal? Or it will be fixed soon?

Additional info : already reboot the phone and used the xperia companion fix and didn't work.

And when I block the sensor gets back to the regular color

I think this is generally a problem with all LCD screens, not Sony's in particular. I think the idea is to have as many objects on the screen visible in the bright Sunshine as is possible. The only thing I can suggest is to take off your sunglasses and crank up the brightness to the top setting. Everything becomes a bit washed out looking, but this is the price we pay for screen legibility in the bright sunshine.

My images in MMS are very low quality, they size are between 70-130 kB instead of typical 250 kB (like for example in my Xperia T or Xperia E4 or other phones with MMS capabilty). Anyone experiencing that? Could this be problem with my carrier? Or to be precise network settings for XZ1 Compact send by my carrier?

Hello,

My xperia XZ1 Compact is still stuck at Oct 1, 2017 security patch.

I have tried to update via phone and xperia companion software, but it says my device already has the latest update.

Please help.

Please help.

  1. Go to https://xpericheck.com/
  2. Click the ? icon at the top of the page and enter in your IMEI to get your devices CDA
  3. Go to https://xpericheck.com/device/G8341 and check the current build number (listed as 'version') for that same CDA

If the build number matches that of what is on your phone (check in Settings > About Phone > Build Number) then it means that is the latest version the carrier of that device has released (and you'll have to wait).

If the build number on your phone doesn't match that of the current version for your CDA listed on the site then you'll want to raise with Sony support.

Open your Google Play app, and open Settings from the side menu (pull from the left). You'll find the setting for "Auto-update apps".
