just bring back the background noise option (on/off). i have the z5 premium dual. the noise cancellation is just too strong. i have to talk really loud or put it on speaker (then the nc is off). when i use my plantronics voyager legend then i have to shout to deactivate noise supression.
what is the reason to not have a mic gain adjustment....etc.?
we are not iphone user who cant handle more than 1 option....!

Hello,
I have the Z5 Premium and I also started having this problem recently. I think it's a software issue and I started experiencing it when I upgraded to Android 6.0. I also own a Z1 and it has the same problem with the same Android. This problem is really annoying, Sony, when do you think you can fix it?
I have the same issue already after factory reset, so it can not be a new installed app.
I tried the safemode and there it worked.
After restart to normal mode it does not work.
How can i find out, which of the sony preinstalled OS software or Apps is causing the microphone to deaktivate itself?
It must be a software part, which is inactive in safemode.
This happened after one year of usage.
My friend has the same phone and the same isue happened after one year of usage?
I have the same issue, callers can hardly hear me on my Z5 Compact. Works fine on external speaker and bluetooth, but not when on normal microphone. Pretty much made my phone un-usable for taking or making calls now. Been a Sony user for a while, from Xperia S, Z1 and now Z5 Compact, this is the first one that has such a major issue. Disappointing that nothing has been done yet, anyone had any updates on this lately ?
Same problem with my Z5 compact. People cannot hear me when I make a call. Diagnostics showed no issue. Problem is recent as when I bought the phone it worked fine. I haven't added any apps recently.
Can we expect any feedback from Sony?? What's the point of a phone if you can't make calls???
Suffering from the same problem: the voice is transmitted to calling side weak and subdued.
I noticed that the bad microphone performance is related to protective case.
When the case is removed the voice is heard clear and loud. Seems silicone protective case influences the mic.
Hi,
I had this problem on a used phone I bought. I tried all sorts of things, as suggest on various forums, and in the end it turned out to be that the small microphone hole at the bottom of the phone had some debris in it. I cleaned it (very carefully) with a small pointed implement and blew in compreseed air. Volume levels came back to normal straight away.
