I noticed that the battery on the 534 firmware stays much longer, at lest 2 times longer in standby. I need more time to check it out, but so far it is very good update. Only one problem persists for me - Wi-Fi at channel 12.

I tried to get my Z1 hot. I left the "Epic Citadel" for ~40 min looping, and half of the time connected to the charger - it got much warmer, but still not hot enough to make it a problem... so this is weird if a browser get you such heat.

You really should try to boot it in "safe mode" (long tap on the "power off" option, it'll ask then) to make sure this problem is not related to any third party apps. If it is not, then reset it or SUS repair. Sometimes apps leave something after them in the system, and when you update it causes problems, so the easiest way is to SUS it.

I just updated my Z1 (C6902) to 14.1.G.1.534

Lets see if I experience any such heating issues, Will surely let you know. Till now I am happy with my Z1, Expecting impovement in Image processing & Battery life.

Are you sure the PC Companion updated you to 14.1.G.1.534? not to 14.1.G.1.531?

I am asking because as far as I know the 534 firmware is for the C6903, not for the C6902 model, so maybe that is the problem, you flashed a wrong firmware..?

I am on 534 FW and don't have any of the issues reported here

modern smartphones will heat up especially when you put that leading edge hardware to work - I have never had any of my devices heat to a degree were I couldn't touch them - yes they can get hot but not that hot, they have built in sensors that detect if the hardware exceeds a certain temp and will down clock or shut it down

If you really think your device is getting beyond touchable temp then there is something seriously wrong with it - either the sonftware has somehow corrupted in which case an update repair will fix it or it has developed a hardware fault with the heat sensors and you should return it to a Sony repair center for evaluation

There is nothing more anyone can tell you on this thread - we have all done our best to resolve your situation and give good advice based on our experience - not much more to discuss here

Please come back and let us know what action you took and the result

regards

Yes, but as you can see the other problem came out. The guy have C6902 and he flashed 534 firmware instead of 531.

The C6902 variant doesn't have LTE radio, so the hardware in the phone differs form C6903 slightly. So the firmware differs - other set of drivers and system features. This can cause reported malfunction if the firmware that is designed to one variant is installed on the other one. And this actually could be the answer.

For many this can't be even noticeable, Z1 is just Z1 for them, so when they look for a firmware they don't care about the last build number. This really matters.

I don't have any issues of this kind, and I am using the 534 build, but also I have C6903 variant with full LTE support, I can't imagine what damage "my" firmware could cause on C6902 or on any other variant.

I am sure 14.1.G.1.534 is available for C6902 also...

so my research continues,

When in the play store the phone warms up, as put the camera on and select fx guru (recommend by sony) when processing a video it heat up alot. What this tells me is when processing alot of information the phone can handle it but needs to work hard i personally dont think they are using the fill potention of the quad core in this phone but are using 2 cores instead where the phone heats up is on the loction which i stated earlier

z1 back

Under the flash there is a blank area this is the part of the phone which heats up alot! what i will do is replicate the problem and use a heat thermometer to measure the tempatures. what i have come to relise is that  this happens also when using browsers to.

I will keep you posted with more information.

I updated two days ago and experiencing no such issue of heating. Just feeling that its eating more battery. Lill bit extra than earlier.
