I replaced the microphone flex cable myself and it still isn't working!
I Have also had a Z5 for 1 and a half years. Now the mic only works if I plug something in the mini-jack socket.
As soon as jack is unplugged, callers cannot hear me talking to them!
Seems there are a lot of posts from users having the same problem. Time to change to another brand of phone.....
Same problem here!!!
Sad if I have to replace a almost new phone because of this!
I m also encountering same audio jack problem. Its a software problem so handset needs to be send to company for for repair within warrenty to prevent mony loss
But its alternate sol is download sound about app from where u can manually force the sound to earphone or to speakers it works but its seems quite irritating.
Same problem here bought my Z5 compact in september 2016, started experience problems during spring sent it in for repair in May and got the mic replaced, worked ok but not good after that. However last week I started have similliar but worse problems with the mic as people could not hear me at all sometimes. So sent it in on repair again today, so we'll se what happens now. Also after the first repair the battery time as been awful now lasting less than a Day, also when using the phone it gets very hot.
Been buying Sony, since The Sony-Ericsson Xperia neo, but now thinking it might be my last one.
Hey,
I was having this problem. Microphone barely picked up my voice and others couldn't hardly hear me during calls. Problem persisted in diagnostics and in safe mode.
Simply going to Settings-apps-google and then turning off its permissions to use microphones seemed to work wonders for me.
Hope this helps someone.
I have a fault with my microphone on my Z5 where when I am calling someone they can't hear me. I have ran a diagnostic test on the microphone which it failed. Please could someone advise me ASAP. Thanks.

I have this aswell, I think it might happen when you plug earphones in, then remove them, I think the phone thinks that a hands free is still attached so the mic is disabled... Have no idea how to fix it though... Any help Sony??
I have a Sony Experia E5 it is very annoying you talk to someone and they can't hear you I had an emergency one night and contacted emergency services I got through and they couldn't hear me. I had to restart the phone this is not right I have taken it to Vodafone who tested it and said it had a problem and send it away I need the phone for my work I am at the stage of changing the phone but I don't want to do this as I purchased it in August
Download the app soundabout to force the sound in earphone or speaker otw give it customer care they will change the motherboard
