Hi all,
I am having an issue with subtitles on my new TV and I hope you can advise.
I am unable to turn off the subtitles permanently on my new Sony Bravia KD55XG8796 TV.
I can turn them off whilst watching a channel but if I then switch channel they reappear without being switched on. Simililarly, if I return to a channel I had been watching and had already turned the subtitles off - they again reappear without being turned back on.
I have played around in the accessibility menu and found that subtitles are appearing as disabled as standard, but this is no the case in reality. I have to hit the (...) button to switch them off for each channel.
Can anyone advise how to permanently switch subtitles off as standard.
I think i may need a software patch or advanced settings.
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried checking the main settings of the TV under "Watching TV" or "Accessibility", I believe it may be called either Captions or Subtitle in those settings.
Do you happen to be using an external set-top box for freesat or is the satellite cable connected directly to the TV tuner?
There is no digital option
the accessibility option has subtitles a;ready turned off
Tried to turn it on and then off , not changed the subtitles
this is driving me mad !
Settings>Watching TV>Channels>Channel setup>Digital Setup>Subtitle setup>Subtitle setting>Off
Have just re-tuned Freesat on the TV and it seems to have cured the subtitles coming on each time I change channels.
